What's in a name...

We have made it to the US and the kiddo was a gem on the airplane, but trying to explain jetlag to a 2 month old is something different entirely. Wow - the last few days have been rough. He did sleep better last night, but tomorrow we are off again for the 2 day drive to Michigan where his schedule will no doubt be screwed up again.

Spending time with cousins Hanna, Maddy and Lilly Rose has been a lot of fun and "BabyFinn" (all one word mind you) has gotten more super immunity in the last few days than the first two months of living in China! To purell or not to purell is not even an option - there is no time unless there is a Purell bomb I could have set off before walking in the door. I don't know why I'm even bothering with sterilizing the bottles/pump parts - I guess mainly to humor myself into thinking that it even makes any difference at all. In fact, BabyFinn has done a lot better of a job surviving the girls germs than mama bear who is fighting off a sinus infection along with continued jet lag. Poor mama bear...

At this point, I hope we have not confused the kiddo with all his nicknames - Will and I first started calling Finn "Bub" (short for buby (like baby) that ended up being turned into bubba - couldn't have that). Then we went to "boo boo" which we thought was appropriate - as in "boo boo bear" since I call myself and Will mama and papa bear. Then since he is a red head - I wanted to call him Pumpkin head since that is what my Dad used to call me. This is after the nurses at the hospital said his nickname was Peng Peng (Chinese meaning chubby). However, my personal favorite comes from cousin Eliza who the other night was at dinner with Aunt Beth and Uncle Kip asked them when "CousCous" was coming. Uncle Kip pondered and said "Do you mean Peng Peng?" - and she replies "Yeah, him!"

So call him what you will - BabyFinn, Peng Peng, Boo Boo, Cous Cous, Pumpkin Head - at this point he is pretty flexible as long as someone feeds him and doesn't step on his head. At least he has been spared getting his hair gelled or his toes painted pink!

Wait til Chayse and Tenley get a hold of the little monkey, his toes may be pink along with wearing a dress! See you Friday!

We call Elle "Baby Elle". All the time. NO ONE calls her Elle, unless they don't really know us or they would know that her name really is "Baby Elle". Cute, but what will she think when she's 18?
