Ni Hao - We made it!

We're here and made it with our luggage through customs, 45 minute cab ride to our hotel last evening (Tuesday). I difinitely remcommend going to a country at some point in your life and be the absolute, no question, minority. It has nothing to do with racism (We haven't experience any directly) - but just looking around for anyone that looks like you. It is a really big city...but we are situated right across from Zhonzhan Park - mini central park. So Will and I got up at 6am (and from our perch on the 15th floor work out room) we saw people walk into the park and get into groups and do Tai Chi. It was cool. That will be a goal of ours later this week or next. It doesn't look totally foreign like we expected, but there is something "different." Some buildings are really fancy and then some are really run down - and they are right next to each other. Weather is similar to New Orleans style..mid day it will reach upper 80s, low 90s with humidity...but nothing new, right? We still don't have our digital camera yet because it is in our shipment...but we will pull out the video camera. Our plan today is to turn in our residency permit and just walk around to see what it what. Will doesn't have to be at work until Monday morning...so we have a little time to get situated. Okay...miss all of you. Take care and send me funny stories of work / like - otherwise these blogs will make Tracy a dull boy (a la "The Shining" reference).

Hi, I am so happy that you guys finally reached the destination. I hope you will not have a bad jet lag in the next few days! I am looking forward to see all the pictures you are going to send. The work is as usual, JCHO visited us today at hospital and guess what? I was in charge so if things go wrong, you know who is going to be blamed for. JCHO is going to be here for the next few days and I am also in charge Thursday and Friday. Yoo Hoo!! How lucky am I? Anyway, today nothing happened, they just came through and checked the security, but they will come in the next few days. Everyone is fine at work. I miss you a lot. I enjoyed reading your blogg, talk to you later, love, Marina.

It is funny that you wrote on the 9th and much later I commented on the 8th. It seems now you are living and writing in future and I am writing and living in the past!!

ohmygawd...I have lost track of time. I was going to call you tonight and I logged on to see where you were. You're in China! It's a whole different day for you-it's still August 8th here! I was addicted to shark week on Discovery channel last week, so I didn't check the computer much. (I'm VERY glad I didn't see that before our trip to Port Aransas!) Beware. Hong Kong is one of the world's hot spots for shark attacks! Consider yourself warned. :-)

I'm glad your trip went well!! Miss you! You don't have your camera?? Who packed for you?? I'm looking forward to some pictures!
